United Nations

The buyers of this mid-century apartment fell in love with the corner unit views from the Empire State to United Nations and East River. However, the interior was badly in need of a complete overhaul. We gutted and reworked the layout to create four distinct spaces each with their own identity. The large rectilinear living and dining space is softened by a curvaceous sofa, an orb pillow, and several round cocktail tables. Gold, turquoise, and dusty rose tones enliven the space with pops of color. In the kitchen dark woods, grey glass cabinet doors, and stormy marble countertops blend to create a dramatic juxtaposition to the bright vistas beyond. And in the library we went bold with charcoal grey walls, a black lacquered ceiling, and a vibrant emerald green sofa that begs to be touched. In the powder room we custom designed an apothecary style vanity and more dramatic stonework really amp up the theatrics in this small space. And finally, in the master bedroom, the client wanted a serene space, so we enveloped the room in silk wallpaper and went bold with a wall to wall animal print carpet. .
